May 21-22 2025 seminar “Unsustainability, an unavoidable challenge for the future of oncology”.

In partnership with the Cancéropôle CLARA
As part of the national Convergence program “Plascan,” funded following a competitive and selective call for projects, we are pleased to announce the 4th multidisciplinary symposium organized by the Léon Bérard Centre, the Lyon Cancer Research Centre, and the Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
This event will take place on May 21-22, 2025, at the Médiathèque Paul Zech, Lyon 8th district.
This symposium will bring together around a hundred participants, including researchers in biomedicine and human and social sciences, as well as oncology healthcare professionals and representatives of patient associations.
The goal of this symposium is to promote dialogue and collectively reflect on the challenges related to the unsustainability in oncology—a major challenge for the future of the field—and the responses that need to be provided.
Discussions will focus on essential questions such as:
- How sustainable is innovation in oncology?
- What production policies should be in place for anticancer drugs?
- What role do industries play in this field?
- What are the limitations of artificial intelligence in oncology?
The aim of this symposium is to explore these issues and analyze how they intersect in the field of oncology.
